How to enable Google Groups synchronization for CubeBackup.

Starting with version 4.11, CubeBackup supports the synchronization of Google Groups structures to organize users in Google Workspace. This enables CubeBackup to search backups within a specific group and sync group permissions for shared drives during the backup process.

For installations upgraded through the console, or versions prior to 4.11, CubeBackup will not be configured to request Google Groups permissions. To enable this functionality, please follow the step-by-step instructions below:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console using an administrator account in your domain.
  2. From the main menu in the top-left corner, select Security > Access and data control > API controls.
  3. Click MANAGE DOMAIN WIDE DELEGATION in the "Domain-wide delegation" section.
  4. On the Domain-wide Delegation page, locate the Client ID for CubeBackup that you previously authorized, and click Edit at the end of the entry. Edit button
  5. In the Edit scopes dialog, add the following scope to permit read-only access to your Google Groups:

    https://www.googleapis.com/auth/admin.directory.group.readonly
  6. Click AUTHORIZE to enable CubeBackup to sync Google Groups structures in your domain.

  7. Return to the CubeBackup web console and click the Backup now button. CubeBackup will sync the user groups and associated permissions during the next backup cycle and rectify the shared files and shared drives that have group permission issues.
